at the end of All Yesterdays (the extremely good book about imagining and illustrating dinosaurs in complex speculative ways i was talking about yesterday) there’s a section where they prove the point about the fact that we need to be more open to imagining skin coverings and fat/cartilage deposits by illustrating modern-day animals as if a nonhuman paleontologist from millions of years in the future reconstructed them using the just-skin-stretched-over-the-skeleton-and-muscles method that unimaginative paleoartists use with dinosaurs
with results like:
and
and
and i love it so much because it absolutely unquestionably proves the point the book is making
This is fantastic and remarkable. Wow wow wow wow. Now I’m inspired to look at skeletons in a new light, and dinosaurs too. Ahhhh, another thing to tack onto my ever-growing list of things to study.
Aaa love shit like this soo much, it just feeds into all the mystery and complete unkown behind prehistoric wildlife. Just the whole fact behind no matter how much we find, until we uncover some totally intact specimen, we will never know what they looked like, making them the indefintate true beasts of our imaginations.
Okay I have no idea who made these hi-res models but whoever did it
bless you
I want to like these, but something just bothers me about them. I feel like the heads don’t really fit on the bodies properly, particularly in the one on the left. …I think really it’s just the one on the left that’s bothering me the most. That waist, too. Really, just…just everything about the model on the left.
Nnnngh SOMEONE TELL ME I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE BOTHERED BY THIS. Twilight is my favorite Link incarnation, too ;___; ksdljfksdf
It bothers me a bit, too. I think I found out why.
Obviously, this isn’t perfect, but it’s just the stuff I picked up here and there in my life drawing class. Click through for a bigger image, because the resizing on Tumblr sucks.
Every time I see someone reblog this image and fangirl over it, I die a little on the inside for the reasons listed above.
This Aggron gijinka is giving me a hell of a time and I’M STILL JUST ON THE MOST BASIC PART OF THE SKETCH
I can’t get her body to look right uuuugh
